Joseph William McKenna, Jr

As you already know, Joseph William (Joey) was born on Saturday, January 19. It was the best and worst day! They started me on pitocin at 6am, broke my water and gave me my epidural by 10am. We were going strong and dialated to 4cm around 2 when Joey's heartbeat started to slow down. They took me off of the pitocin and figured that it would be a long time until he arrived. At around 3, the epidural wore off and I felt the worst pains that I had ever felt in my life! I started moving very fast, dialated all the way up to 8 cm by 5. I don't think that the nurses believed me when I said that I was in a ton of pain. Neither did the doctor! My mom got there at 5:30 and saw me acting (as Joe says) like Linda Blair from the Exorcist. Around 6, they measured me and realized that I was fully dialted, but the doctor still wasn't there! Each contraction that I had, I felt that Joey wanted to come out. The nurses told me to stop pushing because my doctor wasn't there! I didn't care...the pain was so bad that I couldn't help but push. At 6:27, Joey came into this world weighing 8 lbs 6 oz and measuring 22 inches. Here is a picture of our handsome little guy:
Unfortunately, he has a little jaundice, so we have to take him for some more bloodwork tomorrow and to see his doctor.

Joseph William

Well he's here. After about 12 hours of labor and a faulty epidural, Joey decided to make an appearance at 6:27PM PST, weighing in at 8lbs 6oz.

We Got the Call!

Who thought that going into child labor included that important call from the hospital? Well, at 3am this morning, they called and told us to be there in an hour to start my induction. We will keep you updated on what happens. Wish me luck!

Still Pregnant...

Well, I haven't had him yet. Yesterday, the doctor's office finally called me back and informed me that I am scheduled to be induced on Saturday, assuming that they aren't too crowded and that there isn't anyone that is more urgent to induce than me. They won't call until Saturday to tell me what time to be there. It sounded a little odd to me, so I asked if there is a chance that they won't call me on Saturday. She said yes...it just depends on the availibility of the hospital. It is really frustrating to think that I might have to wait until next week. I was having contractions earlier today, but they have stopped. I am starting to think that this baby just isn't going to come out!

Almost There!

I had a doctors appointment today. I am 75% effaced and 1 1/2 cm dialted. The doctor wanted to schedule me to be induced on Friday (incase I don't go into labor on my own) but the hospital is booked for inductions. I am currently waiting for a phone call to let me know if they can induce me on Saturday. Hopefully I will just go into labor in the next few days, but incase I don't, it is good to know that there is an end in sight!

Still pregnant

So, January 11 came and went and I am still pregnant. As you can see, we are a little frustrated.

False Alarm!!!

For those of you that got my email saying that I had the baby...well, I haven't! That is a pregnant woman's brain for you! I entered all of the email addresses into the email to make it easier for Joe to send an email when I do have the baby. I accidently hit "SEND" instead of "SAVE AS DRAFT." So, no baby, but when we do have one, you will know!

Joe's First Day of School

Yesterday was Joe's first day of Test Pilot School so, of course, I had to take a picture! He wasn't happy about saying cheese, so this is all that I got! Everything went ok and he even made friends to sit with at lunch:)

Also, I had a doctors appointment and nothing is new. I am still huge and uncomfortable with no scheduled end in sight. I will just keep thinking that my little boy loves me so much that he doesn't want to leave me! My next appointment is a week from today, unless he decides to suprise us in the next week!

ONE MORE WEEK!!!(maybe)

Here is a picture of me (and CeCe-she likes to photographed) at 39 weeks. Don't let the smile fool you...I am extremely uncomfortable and my back hurts 23 out of 24 hours a day. I have another doctor's appointment on Monday.

Almost 39 Weeks

I had another doctor's appointment today and there is no change. I am still 40% effaced and not dialated. I saw the nurse practitioner and she did another ultrasound. She likes us a lot because a few weeks ago, she told us a story about how she wished that she had named her son after her husband. That was when we started thinking more about naming our son after Joe. So, we can credit her partly with the name choice:) Anyway, here is another ultrasound picture. In this one, you can see his profile.
