Edwards Air Show

Yesterday, Joe flew in the Edwards Air Show here on base. It was a long and hot day here. The weather is still in the 90's and the sun is hot! I went to the air show with Joey and some friends of ours. Joe's plane flew over once and then again about 2 hours later with every other plane in the air show. So we missed naptime, it was hot, and I have a toddler. It made for an interesting time and a delirious Joey(he looooooves his naps!). Here are some pictures and a video of the air show.

Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday, we went to a pumpkin patch. We rode on a tractor out to a field to pick a few pumpkins. Also, the tractor ride took us through acres of the farm. We passed blueberry trees, avocado trees, tons of apples, and some other fruits. We all had a great time and now we have 3 pumpkins to carve! After the tractor ride, we went through a corn maze. We followed the trail but Joey wanted to crawl under the standing corn husks to get out!
Joey picking his pumpkin. He liked to pick them up and throw them. Not funny.

Mike and Maggie's Wedding

On Saturday, my brother Mike got married. We left my parents on Friday to drive up to Youngstown, Ohio to check into the hotel and go to the rehersal and rehersal dinner. Joe and I were both in the wedding and Joey was the ring bearer. After the church rehersal, we went back to the hotel for the rehersal dinner. Luckily, my friend is from Youngstown and her family still lives there. My friends neice, Lindsay, babysat Joey for us so that we could enjoy the evening. Joey loved her and went to sleep great for her.

On Saturday, we got up and I left to go get my hair done and then I stayed with Maggie and the rest of her bridesmaids. The wedding was at 2:30 and the reception followed. We tried to get Joey in the pictures but he only made it into one. It was more of a hassle trying to get him to stand still in the picture. Wait, no, let me rephrase that...it was more of a hassle trying to get him to look at the camera when all he wanted to do was to stand infront of the flower girl and stare at her. My little flirt.

We had a great time at the reception and Joey did AWESOME. Unfortunately, the babysitter couldn't babysit again on Saturday night so we had to keep him at the reception. Joe and I both tried to get him to sleep but he just wouldn't. He ran around a little, ate a bunch of cookies, and danced a little. Finally, he laid down in his stroller and watched his dvd player. And he was so happy doing that. At 11:00pm, his eyes closed and he went to sleep. We were at the reception until after midnight. We all had a great time and are still tired from the lack of sleep on Saturday night.

Yesterday, we went to my aunt's house to say goodbye to some family members and then over to Mike and Maggie's house to say goodbye to them. They left for Hawaii this morning and yes, I did think about hiding in their suitcase so that I could go along!

Tomorrow we head home to California to unpack and get back into our routine. Luckily Joey and I have a trip to Shreveport planned in a few weeks!!!

Oh, and here are the pictures from the wedding: Mike and Maggie's Wedding.

A Sneak Preview

Joey is wearing a tux for my brother's wedding on Saturday. The first one that we got was an 18-24 month but it was too small so we had to send it back for a 2T. I had it shipped directly to my parents house. We tried it on this morning and Joey didn't mind it on. He just didn't want his picture taken. But I did get a few. Here is a wedding preview...

I can't wait to see my handsome boy bust a move in this tux!

It's been awhile...

I haven't posted on the blog recently because we have been busy and there really haven't been too many exciting things going on. Besides being my little buddy, Joey is doing great. He is trying to say more words, mimicking me mostly. Yesterday, he started saying "boo boo" because he has a few scratches on his legs. How did he get scratches on his legs? Well, he doesn't stop moving and jumping and running and playing. If only I could have 1/3 of his energy!
Here is a funny story. This morning, he brought me a Christmas book that he found in his closet. Because it is September, I really don't want to start reading Christmas books. So I read a page and skipped a page. Joey stopped me and turned back to the page that I skipped. So I guess I won't be able to do that anymore!
This past weekend, my cousin Tina came to visit us. It worked out great because Joe was out of town! We had a great time eating out, shopping, and playing at the park. She taught Joey what a woodpecker says. So when you ask Joey what a woodpecker says, he pecks his chest and says "peck peck."
In the next month and a half, we are going to be very busy with a few trips. One trip to Pittsburgh for my brother's wedding and then Joey and I are going to Shreveport to visit some friends. We are exciting for both trips!

A Trip To Pittsburgh

We have been pretty busy the past few weeks. During those busy times, I haven't taken one picture. We just got back yesterday from a 10 day trip to Pittsburgh. We went there for my brother's fiance's(Maggie) bridal shower. We had so much fun being there, visiting with my family and relaxing. Well, I relaxed. My dad put Joe to work digging the pond in the backyard. The shower was great and Maggie got A LOT of nice things. Joey has a bit of a crush on his Aunt Maggie, so it was cute to see him laughing and showing off infront of her.
We are home now and Joe is back to work. Although we enjoy being in Pittsburgh, it is nice to get back to our daily routine and life back here in California.

The Big 3-0

Today is my 30th birthday. I am not thrilled. I can remember when I was younger thinking that 30 was so old. And now I am 30. I have been alive for 30 years. Wow. That's a long time.
Anyways, today for my birthday, Joe and Joey bought me an IHome. It is a docking station/alarm clock for my IPhone. Joe does pretty good with suprises for me. Joe took the day off so I also got a pedicure, went to Target alone, and we had friends over for our KFC sides dinner (we just eat mashed potatoes, cole slaw and biscuits...I know, healthy) that we do every so often. Oh, and an ice cream cake with my favorite, Praline's N Cream ice cream. Yum. It was a good day.
The past few weeks have flown by. Two weekends ago, I went with 3 friends to Las Vegas. They were 3 friends that I spent a lot of time with while living in Minot. We stayed at the Venetian and had a blast. We were all there without kids so that was definately relaxing. We ate tons, went to the Price is Right Live show, went to the pool, the mall and ate some more. I missed my Joey the whole time that I was away and I was so happy to see him when the weekend was over! Here are the pictures of our great weekend: Las Vegas.
This past weekend, we took another trip to Coronado Island. We love it there. We stayed at the Navy Lodge at North Island again. It is right on the beach and for $80, you can't beat it! Joe treated the whole weekend as my birthday weekend(as he should:)) and bought me my gift while there, let me pick where we ate the whole weekend, and took me to the mall to shop while he took Joey!

Coronado Island

This past weekend, we took a trip down to Coronado Island. We stayed at the North Island Navy base hotel, which is right on the beach. It was a last minute trip because getting a room at the hotel is really hard to do because rooms are really cheap and it is right on the beach. So I guess I just got lucky when I called them two weeks ago and they had a cancellation!
We didn't drive down there until Saturday afternoon because I had a hair appointment on Saturday morning. We got to Coronado at around 3 and went straight to the beach. Joey was a little scared at first and he just wasn't sure of the waves and the gross seaweed that HUGE and everywhere! Infact, I couldn't even hang out with them in the water because I couldn't stand the seaweed touching me and wrappping around my ankles! After playing in the water and the sand, we cleaned up and went to meet my cousin Eva who lives in San Diego, along with my Aunt Joanne and her boyfriend Sean. We went to a really good Italian restaurant and enjoyed dinner outside on the patio. Afterwards, we walked around the area and ate ice cream from Coldstone. We didn't get back to the hotel until around 9pm and by then we were all pretty tired!
On Sunday, we woke up and did some shopping and then headed home. It was a really fun weekend and hopefully we will make it down to Coronado/San Diego again really soon!
Here are our pictures from the weekend. Coronado Island.

18 Month Appointment

I was a little late on making Joey's 18 month appointment with the doctor. He got weighed and measured and he is a little over 30lbs and 35 inches tall. Lately we have been getting a lot of suprised faces when we tell people how old Joey is. He is in the 95th percentile for height. So maybe instead of being a swimmer(he doesn't like going underwater) he will be a basketball player?
Some of his favorite words these days are tickle, hi, hot, and CeCe. When we pull into the driveway, he starts saying "CeCeCeCe". Then he runs into the house right past her and gets into his toys. He never stops moving!

What's New...

Not much! Joey and I have been doing our Mom and Tot swimming lessons for the past week and a half. Our last day is Friday. It has gotten a lot better since the first day. Joey now likes to kick and splash in the pool. After swimming everyday, we have to find things to do inside since it is so hot here. The temperatures are over 100 degrees everyday.
Tomorrow, we start another session of Toddler University. Toddler U. is a program that my friend, Dina, started at the Jungle Zone inside play area on base. During Toddler U., Joey and his little friends get to listen to music, dance, play with instruments, balls, scarves, and do a special art project each week. It is held every Thursday for 6 weeks. It is definately an activity that Joey and I look forward to everyweek.
That is all that is going on in our lives. I haven't been taking many pictures recently and I need to start...Joey turned 18 months the other day. I can't believe how fast time is flying by!
