Disneyland

We got back from Disneyland on Saturday afternoon. It was a quick trip. Joe left at 5am on Thursday morning with some classmates because the SETP conference that they were going to started at 9am. Joey and I drove down a little later, leaving our house at 9am. Joey slept the whole hour and a half drive. It was nice because I had the chance to talk to my friend Kerry whose husband left to deploy on Thursday morning. Anyways, we got there around the same time that my mom arrived on the shuttle from LAX. Our room wasn't ready so we went to the mall. Later that night, we went to dinner at one of the restaurants in Downtown Disney.
On Friday, my mom and I took Joey to Disneyland while Joe went to more of the conference. It was super hot and the wait to go on most of the rides were longer than 20 minutes. We didn't ride any but we did walk around the whole park. We were hot and tired by 1pm. Joey fell asleep in his stroller while my mom and I ate and walked back to the hotel.

On Friday night, Joe and I went to California Adventure, which is the park right across from Disneyland. We got in for free because we were there with the conference. We only got to ride 2 rides, but still had fun.

We woke up on Saturday morning, said goodbye to my mom and drove back to Edwards.

I didn't take very many pictures, but here are a few of my favorites:
Yes, I am one of those crazy people that takes a sheet for my son to crawl around on in the hotel room. Do you know how many germs are on the floor??? Joey loved looking at himself in the mirror. He must get that from his dad. He also tried kissing himself in the mirror.
Joey and I in Toontown.
Joey with his Mickey Mouse ears on.

8 Months--A Little Late

I can't believe that I forgot to post on Joey's 8 month birthday! It was last Friday, September 19. We didn't do anything great...just went out for pizza for dinner. He didn't eat any, of course, but Joe and I enjoyed some.
Tomorrow we are going to Disneyland. Joe has a conference that starts tomorrow and ends on Saturday. We will be home on Saturday evening. My mom is joining us in Disneyland and on Friday night, she is going to watch Joey so that Joe and I can go to an adults only party at California Adventure Park. I can't wait to see Mickey and Minnie Mouse!

September Pictures

I decided to post some September pictures now because I have taken a lot. Also, next week we are going to Disneyland, so those will have their own post:) So, is are two pictures of Joey from today. He decided at lunch that he doesn't like peas anymore but he still ate them(really, who does like peas?). He just made a really horrible face after every bite....just like his daddy who doesn't like peanut butter, but will eat it while making a face.

Here are the rest of the pictures: Joey September. Joey has been crawling around and into everything. I turn my head for one minute and he has knocked over CeCe's water bowl or taken all of my books off of the bottom shelf of the bookshelf. When I say "no no Joey" he laughs. Although this is extremely cute and I want to laugh back, I try really hard to keep a straight face. Joe isn't as good as I am at keeping a straight face and he laughs at Joey. Maybe all of this chasing Joey around will help me to lose those last few pounds of baby weight!

Yep, I am still talking about those things...

So, last night, my friend's dog, Babe, got attacked by a coyote in their backyard. Babe is a 16lb maltese. If you refer back to my older posts, The Interlopers or Why Can't We Shoot Them?, you will read that I am pretty annoyed by their presence on this earth. The fact that we can't even go into our backyard without fear is ashame. Poor Babe was just outside doing his buisness and got attacked. Luckily, the neighbor scared the coyote away and Babe was still alive, but badly hurt. He is still in the hospital and they are waiting to see if he takes a turn for the worst or hopefully the better. His lung is punctured which can be really bad. GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!

Short Video of Joey Crawling

I took a short video of Joey crawling. He started crawling yesterday. The reason that I can't get a longer one is because as soon as he sees the camera, he stops, sits and smiles/laughs. What can I say...he likes to have his picture taken. Anyways, here is the video. Please excuse the dog whining. CeCe wanted to be on camera, too.

Joey's Sleeping "Routine"

Since Joey has started crawling, he has been having a routine everytime we put him down for a nap or for the night. Here is what it is. We put him in his crib on his back with his binki in his mouth. We leave the room and close the door. A few minutes later, we hear him screaming so of course we go in. Everytime it is the same. The reason that he is screaming is because he has decided to crawl around his crib and gets his feet/legs stuck in his crib. Here is a picture of him stuck in the crib.

Joey's Eye Doctor Appointment

Yesterday we had to take Joey for his eye doctor appointment. Since they do not do those kinds of things on base, our pediatrician gave us a referral to go to see a doctor at Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. It is about a 90 mile drive that can take hours because of the Los Angeles traffic.
Our appointment was at 1:45. By the time we got called in to see the doctor, it was after 3. She didn't think that Joey's eyes cross but she did notice that he prefers his left eye over his right eye. Then they dialated his eyes and checked to see if glasses would help. This made me sad, because although little kids that wear glasses are so cute, I don't want my Joey wearing glasses yet! In the end, the doctor said that right now we shouldn't worry but she would like to see Joey in 2 months to see if anything has changed.
We finally got done with our appointment around 4:30. Thankfully we have a GPS because when we got to the 405, we saw the horrible traffic and took a detour. We still sat in some traffic, but it wasn't close to as bad as it could have been!

Maria's History Lesson

The other day, Joe showed me a link to watch a documentry type movie about North Korea called The Vice Guide to North Korea. To see this documentry, go to http://www.vbs.tv/video.php?id=1456276829. It is about 2 Americans that got into North Korea and illegally taped their stay. You will see on the right side that there is a list of movies. There are 14 different clips, each less than 4 minutes. In order to watch all of them, you have to open each individually, so for my internet challenged friends/FAMILY, watch Episode 1, then when it is done click on the Episode 2, etc. It is very interesting and will make you happy to be an American!

Joey

Joey has been scooting around our house! He isn't crawling forward, but he is crawling backwards! He is also clapping his hands. Actually, when my mom was here 2 weeks ago, she tried to teach him how to clap and then when we picked her up last week, he saw her and started clapping! He is just so fun to have around!
Here are a few pictures of him. The first one is of him under our bed. He was sitting there playing while I walked out to put some clothes in the washer. When I got back, he had scooted himself under the bed!

He saw the door stopper and practically dove to get it. Then he played with it for a good 5 minutes.

When he sat up, he thought that he would inspect the door to make sure that it was attached properly. Check out that hair!!!

Those are all of the pictures that I have to share today!

Since my last post...

...we haven't been up to too much. My mom was here this past weekend. Joey and I picked her up on Thursday from LAX and we went to The Grove in LA. It is an awesome outdoor shopping area full of nanny's, babies and really expensive strollers.
On Saturday morning, my friend Mindy had her twin boys! She was a little over 37 weeks along, which is really good for twins! They are soooo tiny and cute! Since I have talked about her to many of you and some of my family has met her, I thought that I would mention that.
On Saturday evening, Joe and I went to a TPS party. It was the 100 day party, a party to acknowlege that there are only about 100 days until graduation. It was at a pool hall in a nearby town called Rosamond. Rosamond is kinda gross. Anyways, we pulled up to the pool hall and at the fence by where we parked was a horse. I wanted my picture taken with it but we forgot our camera so Joe used my cell phone. I got kinda close to it and then freaked out because I realized that it could probably push the fence over with it's nose. So, here is the picture:

Here are a few more pictures from the party that my friend Kelly took:

Me shooting pool

Joe shooting pool

We were in a pool tournament and we were horrible but we won the first game because our opponent hit the 8 ball into the pocket. Less than 100 days until Joe graduates!

The weekend ended with my mom leaving on Sunday. There is a really convienent LAX airport shuttle that she takes. I drove her to the place to meet the shuttle and on the way we stopped at Starbucks for some coffee since it was 6:30am. Well, the lid of my coffee wasn't on good and I dropped steaming hot coffee all over my stomach. I was mad, but would have been even more mad had the coffee tasted good, but it was really bitter coffee. No wonder why so many Starbucks are closing...

Labor Day Weekend

We had such a great 4 day weekend(Joe had off on Friday, too!) We waited until the last minute to decide where to go and then finally on Thursday, we decided to go to Redondo Beach for one night and then to Ontario for a day trip.
On Friday morning, we left for Redondo Beach at around 9:30(Joey's naptime.) We drove for about 2 hours to get there. Joey slept the whole time. It was a little chilly(when I say "chilly" I mean in the 80's...remember, we are used to 110 degrees.) We walked around the pier and then decided to go to the beach. It was Joey's first time in the ocean. He liked it or atleast he didn't not like it. When I put his hand on the sand, he just got a determined look on his face and kept picking it up. Thankfully he didn't eat any:) Here is a picture of Joey playing in the sand:

And here are some more pictures from the beach: Redondo Beach
On Sunday, we drove to Ontario. To get there, we had to drive through the San Bernardino National Forest. As we were driving through, Joe commented that this is the only forest that he has ever been in that doesn't have a single tree. It is kinda odd, but hey...it's the desert.
We had a good day in Ontario and we both got to do the shopping that we wanted to do. I went to Victoria Gardens Mall while Joe went to REI. We went to lunch and had a great day.
Unfortunately, today is Tuesday and Joe had to go back to work:(
